VISUAL APPROAcH
In stoic shots we frame the stagnation of the once bustling border town Spielfeld (ger.: playground), which now seems to serve as a political playground for the suppression of European migration rules. By visualising terms like "vanishing point" or  "border" in our observational shots – terms used by the media to describe the so-called "refugee crisis of 2015” – we subtly make the past events feel present.

When hundreds of thousands of refugees passed through Spielfeld on the Austrian-Slovenian border in the winter of 2015, the place became a symbol of the political overload of the refugee and solidarity crisis. No refugees have arrived here since the Balkan route was closed – what remains is a patchy fence, empty tents and a still unused “border management system”.
